There’s not a single problem a new tattoo or piercings can’t fix

QUICK LINKS

about us

Poison Ivy Ink all began in August of 2021 in a small private studio opened by Emaline Taylor.  It was started with the intentions of providing something to the tattoo community that can often be far and few, a safe comfortable space for anyone to come in and get quality ink.  After a few months in the private studio setting figuring out the vision and saving funds Emaline opened her first store front location in Tampa; it grew very quickly and shortly there after she opened her second location in Saint Pete.

Since its founding Poison Ivy Ink has truly taken the Tampa Bay tattoo industry by storm and has become a hot spot for women and the LGBTQ+ community looking for new ink and piercings. With an absolutely amazing group of piercers and tattooers, each varies in different styles, specialties, and personalities every client gets an authentic genuine experience when they walk through our doors; its no wonder there are over 750 five star reviews from clients sharing their experiences with Poison Ivy Ink.

Whether you are looking for a walk-in tattoo, to book an appointment, or to hang out at a flash event you have to come give Poison Ivy Ink a try.  Offering a unique place for you to transform into your unique self you will wish you had come to get stabbed sooner.  â€‹

FAQ's

What is the shop minimum?

The shop minimim is $100 for all of our senior artists, but on Fridays we have flash is starting at $75 and we do 20% off all custom pieces.

My second skin is sliding off what do I do?

Take it off and clean with antibacterial soap, if you are in the first two days please also use a thin layer of aquaphor but if it is day 3 and beyond switch to an unscented moisturizer.

What are the best clothes to wear to my tattoo appointment?

Please come to your appointment in comfortable clothes that allow you artist easy access to the tattoo area, for example for sternum and back tattoos flannels are best, and for a hip tattoo a tie up bathing suit bottom.  Additionally ink can sometimes be messy it is best to wear an outfit that you wont mind getting stuff on.

Why hasn't my artist sent me the design for my upcoming appointment?

We are super happy you are excited for your appointment due to shop policies designs are not sent out before appointments to protect our artist intellectual property, there will be time during your appointment to adjust the design if needed.

Do you guys charge for touch-ups?

Touch-ups are free for a year as long as the tattoo was cared for properly.  If it is obvious aftercare instructions weren't followed, or if you come into your first appointment with compromised skin the free touch up will be forfeited.

Why are fine-line tattoos more prone to needing a touch-up?

Fineline tattoos are done with a thinner sharper needle and if not used properly have a higher risk of puncturing the skin too deep, therefore when using fineline needles artist stay on the side of caution.  You can always add more ink but we cannot take it away.

Can my cover-up still be dainty and small?

While if requested we will always try to go as dainty and small as possible, cover-ups often require you to go bigger and darker.  If you are concerned about it being too dark it is always okay to go through a few laser sessions to fade the tatoo before doing to cover-up, we highly recommend Tampa Bay Tattoo Removal for any laser needs.

What do I need to do to prep for my upcoming tattoo and piercing appointment?

Please make to be hydrated, well-rested, with a full belly, and prepped with any comfort items, or snackies you may need to get through your appointment comfortably.  If you have a tattoo appointment exfoliation and moisturizing leading up to your appointment will help the tattoo go into the skin easier.

For my last piercing I just mixed salt and water together is this an okay aftercare plan?

While we do want you to use a Saline Spray for your piercings when mixing yourself at home is risky as you cannot ensure its free of bacteria and at the proper PH.  Please go to your closest Walgreens/CVS and pick up Sterile Saline Wound Wash, this is truly the only thing that should be going on your piercing.

I am feeling sick but I have an appointment booked for this week, what do I do?

Please contact your artist or piercer or to cancel, we would love to see you but if your white blood cells are already trying to heal your body of the sickness there may not be enough little guys to heal your tattoo or piercing.

Why do i Feel sick the day after my tattoo?

This is what we like to call the good ole 'Tatoo Flu' this is your bodies immune response to the trauma from the tattoo.  Symptoms you may experience can include fatigue, body aches, and even a mild fever these will go away in a day or two, if the symptoms persist please seek medical treatment.

Tattoo Healing Guide

-DO NOT soak in water until healed, this can take up to a month.

-Keep out of sun for the first month, and after the first month please make sure to use sunscreen when your out in the sun. (It is very true that the sun will fade your tattoos)

-Leave second skin on for 3-5 days.

-It is normal for ink, plasma, and blood to pool underneath wrap.

-Gently remove with warm water.

-Use antibacterial soap to clean area.

-Apply whatever lotion/oil of your preference to moisturize as needed. (NO PERFUMES, NO AQUAPHOR; We recommend Lubiderm, Aveno, or sheabutter)

-Clean tattoo twice a day with antibacterial soap

-Apply very thin layer of aquaphor to the tattoo as needed for the first 2-3 days.

-After day 3 PLEASE switch to non-fragranced lotion or oil of your preference.

-Too little moisture can dry your tattoo up and lead to fading, and too much moisture can cause infections so please be mindful throughout the healing process.

Piercing Healing Guide

Remember to wash your piercing 2x a day with Sterile Saline Solution.

Wash hands prior to cleaning and spray Q-Tip with Sterile Saline to remove any debris.

Touch your piercings as little as possible, and avoid twisting, turning and rotating your jewelry

Do not sleep on piercings and avoid snagging or causing trauma to area.

Do not change jewelry until your piercing is fully healed

To make sure you are downsizing and changing jewelry at the right time wait 4-6 weeks and visit your piercer for a shorter post or jewelry change.

Do not use alcohol, peroxide, tea tree oil, or any soaps to clean your piercing

*Healing varies from person to person; if piercing is irritated or infected do not remove the jewelry and reach out to your piercer immediately*

Client Reviews

‘Absolutely gorgeous work by people who go the extra mile to make sure you love your tattoo. I was given ample opportunity to ask questions and was given detailed answers, I felt completely at ease with the professionalism and care I received. Emaline was meticulous, attention to detail, brought my very specific idea to life—I am very pleased!
Amazing artist. This is the only place I ever want to get tattooed at ever again! Friendly staff and an extremely clean environment. Good vibes”
- Antonio Calos

"Julia did my first two tattoos back in January and I recently saw her zodiac constellation flash on her Instagram. Me and two of my friends went today to get them and our experience was awesome! Julia was really easy to get in touch with and responded pretty quickly to our messages, and was also able to fit in another person last minute. Everything was very clean and sterile, she changed everything in between each of us and made sure our placement and sizing was exactly what we wanted. The other artists in the shop were very friendly and made us feel welcome as well. I will definitely be coming back again in the future for my next tattoos!"
- Mandy Latimer

“I found this tattoo shop through instagram, and I’ve got to say that this was the best experience I could have as someone getting my first big tattoo. From the moment you step through the door, the vibe is positive, comforting, and upbeat from all staff! Emaline created a stellar tattoo for me that was beyond what I could imagine. Her talent and professionalism speak for itself and I will definitely be back!”
- Kristen

“Got my helix pierced about a week ago by Destine and it is healing so great! She made me feel super comfortable and was very kind. Love my piercing so much and will definitely come back to the shop in the future!”
